God’s eyes were running to and fro across the whole earth then and now, it has not changed. God is looking for Christians and churches that are serving Him from their whole heart and will not allow sin to remain in their lives or the Church.
You see from the opening scripture that to those whose hearts are completely His and are living for the Lord He shows Himself strong on their behalf. In other words He takes care of His own.
But on the other hand at the end of the verse above for those who have done foolishly and allowed sin to dominate their life without coming to the Lord for forgiveness there is war in their life.
The choice is completely up to you, what will you do?
Today we are going to look at the Church in Philadelphia and then the Church in Laodicea so that we will see the great contrast between the 2 churches.
There were 2 churches out of the 7 churches that only received approval from the Lord and no rebuke and that was the Church in Smyrna that we have already looked at and this church that I will be teaching on this week which is the Church in Philadelphia.
TO THE CHURCH IN PHILADELPHIA:
“To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These are the Words of Him who is Holy and True, who holds the key of David. What He opens no one can shut, and what He shuts no one can open.” Revelation 3:7 NIV
The Church in Philadelphia was a faithful church to the Lord that kept the Word of God and did not deny Him. They like all the churches had endured opposition and tribulation from the world and satan but they remained strong in their faith in the Lord and would not compromise.
The key that this scripture is talking about alludes to Eliakim a king in the line of David who held the key to all the king’s treasure Isaiah 22:22. When he opened the door it was open and when he closed the door it was closed. Jesus in the same way has the keys to the kingdom of God and entrance to eternal life (open door).
“I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my Word and have not denied my name.” Revelation 3:8 NIV
The Philadelphia Church had little strength of its own. When you think that you are the one that has the strength to get things done for the Lord you are in trouble: “So He said to me, This is the Word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might nor by power, but by mu Spirit, says the Lord Almighty.” Please see Zechariah 4:6 NIV
It is never by our strength that we get things done for the Lord it is His strength in us that gets the job done every time.
In the scripture above the Lord was reminding Zerubbabel that as he was rebuilding the temple of the Lord, it was not going to be Zerubbabel’s power or might that would rebuild this temple. It was all about the Holy Spirit helping him even as the Holy Spirit helps us today in our assignments from the Lord.
It will become a frustrating time to you if you try to go out and do what the Lord has called you to do and still think you can do it with your own ability. Your own ability will never be enough and you will need to call on the Lord for help in order to be successful in what God has called you to do.
The Lord wants you to totally rely on Him in every aspect of your Christian walk.
“I will make those who are of the synagogue of satan, who claim to be Jews though they are not, but are liars-I will make them come and fall down at your feet and acknowledge that I have loved you.” Revelation 3:9 NIV
What this verse is talking about is that Jesus would compel the false Jews to acknowledge the believers valid faith from the Church in Philadelphia in Jesus and recognize that Jesus loved the believers.
This is probably a reference to the ultimate victory of good over evil, the day when all false teachers will have to bow to Jesus and declare Him as Lord of Lords and King of Kings. Philippians 2:9-11 NIV
“Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth.” Revelation 3:10 NIV
God’s promise to keep the faithful in Philadelphia from the hour of trial is identical to Paul’s promise to the Thessalonians that they would be kept from “wrath to come” 1 Thessalonians 1:10. This promise extends to all of God’s faithful throughout the ages. This time of God’s wrath refers to the tribulation of 7 years that will come upon the whole earth after all born again believers are raptured to heaven from this earth.
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.” Revelation 3:11 NIV
This verse connected to Revelation 3:10 indicates that Jesus coming for the rapture of His Church from this earth will be the means for the Church’s deliverance. Also the Church’s rescue from the trial and tribulation are only to those who are faithful to the Lord and hold on to Him and His Word.
“The one who is victorious I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will they leave it. I will write on them the name of my God and the name of the city of my God , the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on them my new name.” Revelation 3:12 NIV
In this verse the Lord promises that those that hold on to Him and His Word until the end the Lord will make a pillar in the temple for those.
Jesus also promised to write His name on these faithful ones to him, along with the Fathers’ name on them and the name of the New Jerusalem on them.
The Bible says that a believer in Christ citizenship is in heaven. “But our citizenship is in heaven and we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.” Philippians 3:20 NIV
Were you aware of this wonderful passage that says than once you are saved you are a citizen of heaven?
How blessed we are as born again Christians.
“Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” Revelation 3:13 NIV
Jesus was telling all 7 of the churches He wrote to in this part of the Book of Revelation and to all His Church around the world today that we are all forewarned to keep faithful to Him and keep our life from unrepented sin in our life.
Jesus has called the 7 churches and us living in this New Testament Church to spiritual maturity and to not be spiritually lazy. Jesus has directed us to do the things that Jesus has spoken in these letters to do.
Jesus wants to bless you as you give total obedience to the Lord in word and deed.
Now let’s look at the Church in Laodicea it is totally opposite in what Jesus spoke about this church. There were no commendations to this church from Jesus only rebuke and a statement from Jesus that they needed to repent immediately and go back to what they should be doing as a church of the Lord.
TO THE CHURCH IN LAODICEA:
“To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation.” Revelation 3:14 NIV
Jesus exposes the deceit and falsehood of the church in Laodicea. The city was known for its wealth and industry. The Laodiceans claimed to be rich, needing nothing. But in reality, they were wretched, miserable, poor, blind and naked. With Jesus’ penetrating eyes of fire, the Lord strips away the outward part of them and exposes the emptiness in them.
I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other!” Revelation 3:15 NIV
Jesus words describe the spiritual condition of the Church in Laodicea. A lukewarm church is one that compromises with the world and resembles its surrounding society; it professes Christ. Yet in reality does not know Him and is in a spiritually wretched state. Jesus severely warns this church about His judgment against spiritual Luke warmness. Jesus sincerely invites the church to repent and be restored to a place of faith, righteousness and fellowship.
“So because you are lukewarm-neither hot nor cold-I am about to spit you out of my mouth.” Revelation 3:16 NIV
The water at Laodicea was not drinkable, so the city had its water pumped in from surrounding cities-hot water from Hierapolis and cold water from Colossae. However, by the time it reached Laodicea, it was lukewarm, just like the faith of the church there. To the Lord, their lukewarm ways were so disgusting that they could not be stomached.
“You say, I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing. But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.” Revelation 3:17 NIV
It is a sad thing to be in such a compromising spiritual state and yet think that they were just fine. They could not see things that were so obvious in their spiritual life. They could not see that they were losing out on the blessings of the Lord as they continued their backslidden ways of compromise with the world and that they were about to be judged of the Lord.
“I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness, and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see.” Revelation 3:18 NIV
Jesus was giving the way to get back to the place where the Church in Laodicea should be spiritually. The gold Jesus mentions symbolizes the purity of their spiritual life that they needed to return to with the Lord. Then they would become really rich in their walk with the Lord. He urged them to get white clothes to wear to their shameful nakedness with once again symbolized returning to a life totally dedicated to the Lord in word and deed. Jesus also mentioned eye salve for their spiritual eyes so they could wake up to their spiritual blindness and start walking with eyes that could see where they had fallen from.
“Those who I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent.” Revelation 3:19 NIV
In His letter to the Church in Laodicea Jesus wanted them to know He still loved them regardless of what happened just like He loves you no matter what sin you get into. Because He loved the Church in Laodicea Jesus tells them the way to get back in right fellowship with Him, repent.
“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” Revelation 3:20 NIV
Some churches have large congregations, they increase their programs, and build larger buildings, yet they have pushed Jesus outside and left Him knocking at their door. What a tragic picture of the Church in Laodicea. Jesus invitation here is to anyone who hears His voice-apparently because this church had even fewer faithful ones than Sardis.
“To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on His throne.” Revelation 3:21 NIV
The reward to people who are victorious is beyond measure and that is to sit down with Jesus on His throne.
“Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” Revelation 3:22 NIV
Laodicea is the final Church age before Jesus comes for His church. The rapture could happen at any second, there is not one prophecy that is left to be fulfilled before Jesus can return for His Church and the rapture of His Church.
The warning to the true biblical churches today remains. Why is this warning so significant to us in this time that we live in? It is significant because by in large, it is the true Church of Jesus today that has allowed the things mentioned above to come in and take over the Church in this time we live in. There are many Laodicean Christian churches in this world and like the warning Jesus gave to the Laodicean church Jesus is giving the same warning to all Christian churches around the world that have become lukewarm and believe that they are okay the way they are.
Don’t be deceived by satan!
We pray that this ministry on the 7 churches in Asia Minor from the Book of Revelation will minister to you as what Jesus said about 2,000 years ago to these churches applies to every Christian church around the world today. So that includes all of us that are born again Christians.
We want to thank all of you that have prayed and given financially to this ministry.
Nita and I also greatly appreciate your effectual fervent prayers for this ministry as we know that prayer changes things and helps us accomplish all that the Lord has called us to do as we minister to the world on this ministry website.
We ask if the Lord has spoken to your heart to give financially to this ministry and that you believe this ministry has blessed your life that you will be obedient to the Spirit of God and give financially.

“Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal if shall be measured to you again.” Luke 6:38
We are involved in our ministry on an international level and also will be continuing to minister at churches as we are led to go to these churches in the United States.
On Tuesday October 27, 2015 the Spirit of God gave me a dream about a very large amount of people that I was ministering to. It seemed they were from different parts of the world. As I ministered to them I told them that WORLD WIDE REVIVAL was coming and that it would touch everyone on the face of the earth.
Every time I would say something to this huge crowd of people there would come a shout of excitement from them. But as I looked over to my right there was a man who I got eye contact with and I said this to him as we looked at each other. I told that man, whoever he was, that it was even going to affect him even though he would try to resist it.
And then I woke up.
Nita and I knew then and now that it was a dream from the Spirit of God and that He had called Nita and me to be part of this END TIME WORLD WIDE REVIVAL.
Since then I have ministered on revival in meetings and conversations I have had with other churches around the world.
JESUS SAID, “SAY NOT YE, THERE ARE YET FOUR MONTHS, AND THEM COMETH HARVEST? BEHOLD, I SAY UNTO YOU, LIFT UP YOUR EYES, AND LOOK ON THE FIELDS; FOR THEY ARE WHITE ALREADY TO HARVEST.” JOHN 4:35
Mankind has a tendency to push revival back to sometime in the future.
REVIVAL, REVIVAL, REVIVAL. (NOW, NOW, NOW).
“AS GOD’S PARTNERS, WE BEG YOU NOT TO ACCEPT THIS MARVELOUS GIFT OF GOD’S KINDNESS AND THEN IGNORE IT. FOR GOD SAYS, AT JUST THE RIGHT TIME, I HEARD YOU. ON THE DAY OF SALVATION I HELPED YOU.” 2 Corinthians 6:1-2, NEW LIVING TRANSLATION. INDEED THE “RIGHT TIME” IS NOW. TODAY IS THE DAY OF SALVATION.”
We are spreading the Word of God around the world as the Holy Spirit leads us to new areas in an ever increasing amount.
For you ministers or leaders of groups you can contact us for ministering in your church at: G Mail:
If you have come to this ministry website today and have never asked Jesus Christ to come into your life and be born again, you are not here by accident, the Spirit of the Living God drew you here.
If you do not have the assurance of where you would spend eternity if you died right now please go to the top of this website and it will have a tab for “SALVATION.” In that tab will be what is required by God to be right with Him. When you pray that prayer and accept the Lord please send us a Gmail to our website at: firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know that you accepted the Lord as your Savior and Lord and were born again. We want to rejoice with you and pray for you. Thank you (Please look up these scriptures: John 3:3 and Romans 10:9-10 it talks about you being born again).
Surely you know people who are going through hell and high water with real battles in their life both Christians and those that are not born again Christians. The Word of God that is presented each week will help turn their situation around if they do the Word of God and instead of the anguish and tears will bring a smile and victory to their life, isn’t that worth you sharing this website with others?
This includes the ones that not able to go to church because of disabilities and sickness or for one reason or another can’t attend church. Can you imagine how this Word of God would bless and comfort them? Please share this website with these folks also.
If we can pray for you please contact us regarding your prayer request.
