Jesus Christ wrote 7 actual letters to 7 actual churches through the Apostle John on the Isle of Patmos in the Book of Revelation.
Of the 7 churches that the letters were written to only 2 of the churches received all good commendations from the Lord and they were the Church in Philadelphia and the Church in Smyrna.
Since these 2 churches received no complaints from the Lord all that Jesus said to these 2 churches is encouragement and comfort to these congregations.
TO THE CHURCH IN SMYRNA:
“To the angel of the church in Smyrna write:”
“These are the words of Him who is the First and the Last, who died and came to life again.” Please see Revelation 2:8 NIV
Notice it states that the Words are from the one who is the First and the Last. This is identifying Jesus Christ as the one that is dictating the Word of God to the Apostle John on the Isle of Patmos.
Just a few scriptures before this one Jesus says He is the Alpha and the Omega in Revelation 1:8 NIV. The Alpha and Omega are the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet.
So Jesus is the Alpha and Omega the first and the last the beginning of all things and the ending. Jesus Christ is all in all. John 1:1-3
Jesus always existed and always will exist, He created all things in the beginning. As God in His incarnation He has no beginning nor will He ever have any ending.
Jesus wanted the Church in Smyrna to know that He is the one who the message came from through the Apostle John.
“I know your afflictions and your poverty-yet you are rich! I know about the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of satan.” Revelation 2:9 NIV
The word affliction in the Greek of which the New Testament was written in Greek means serious trouble, or a burden that crushes, pressure.
The Church in Smyrna was a church that had gone through much tribulation yet they did not back down in the faith toward Jesus Christ. They were a stable group of Christians, they were unwavering.
The Church in Smyrna were faithful Christians which was hard to find in the New Testament Church of which these 7 churches were part of just like it is hard to find faithful Christians in these times we live.
That is why I say that these 7 letters applied to the 7 actual churches they were sent to in the Book of Revelation however these 7 letters apply to all of the Christians around the world today. We should strive to live as the church in Smyrna did.
The other word that is used in Revelation 2:9 to describe the Church in Smyrna is that they were in poverty.
The Greek definition for poverty in Revelation 2:9 is one that is destitute of riches and abundance. One who is having a hard time even putting food on the table.
Jesus states through His letter to the Church in Smyrna that He understands that this church has undergone slander.
Slander means speech that injures another’s good name.
So the Church in Smyrna had their good name run down by individuals who said they were Jews but really were of the synagogue of satan.
In other words individuals who were being run by satan and were out to deceive and try to destroy all of the Christian churches.
Yet according to the letter Jesus sent to the Church in Smyrna they would not back down from who they were and who they were serving who was Jesus Christ.
They were admirable Christian people who were faithful, honest and steadfast in their commitment to the Lord.
It’s wasn’t easy to find those kind of people in that day nor in the day that we live in.
How do you line up according to the people in the Church in Smyrna?
Are you faithful and honest and steadfast in your Christian walk with the Lord?
If Jesus sent you a letter looking at all of the facets of your Christian life what would Jesus say about all the areas of your life?
This is exactly what happened to all of the 7 churches in Revelation the 2nd and 3rd chapters.
“Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor’s crown.” Revelation 2:10 NIV
Jesus is saying to the Church in Smyrna to be fearless and faithful no matter what comes their way.
The reason why Jesus stated this is because the Church in Smyrna would be suffering for a brief period of suffering persecution relating to the ten days Jesus talked about.
Notice that 10 days is the same period of time that Daniel and his three friends were tested, see Daniel 1:12
Jesus then stated that their reward would be huge because they would receive life with Him as their victor’s crown.
“Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who is victorious will not be hurt at all by the second death.” Revelation 2:11 NIV
Jesus makes it very plain here that it is imperative that the Christians in each of the 7 churches in the Book of Revelation and all Christians in this hour we live in here and do what the Lord is telling them.
These were not just some idle words that Jesus was speaking, He meant what He said and said what He meant.
Remember: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8 NIV
Then the Lord gives some encouragement and said to the Church in Smyrna that the ones who are victorious over all of these things would not be hurt by the second death.
What is the second death?
The second death is a separation from God forever and anyone who experiences it will end up in the lake of fire forever. It is called the second death because it follows a person’s physical death.
This is a detailed statement from the Book of Revelation regarding the second death:
“But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars-they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulphur. This is the second death.” Revelation 21:8 NIV
But the good news is that you have a choice, you can choose to ask Jesus Christ into your life and live for Him and the promise from Jesus to you is that you will live forever with Him.
Next week we will look at another one of the 7 churches in the Book of Revelation.
We want to thank all of you that have prayed and given financially to this ministry.

We are involved in our ministry on an international level and also will be continuing to minister at churches as we are led to go to these churches in the United States.
On Tuesday October 27, 2015 the Spirit of God gave me a dream about a very large amount of people that I was ministering to. It seemed they were from different parts of the world. As I ministered to them I told them that WORLD WIDE REVIVAL was coming and that it would touch everyone on the face of the earth.
Every time I would say something to this huge crowd of people there would come a shout of excitement from them. But as I looked over to my right there was a man who I got eye contact with and I said this to him as we looked at each other. I told that man, whoever he was, that it was even going to affect him even though he would try to resist it.
And then I woke up.
Nita and I knew then and now that it was a dream from the Spirit of God and that He had called Nita and me to be part of this END TIME WORLD WIDE REVIVAL.
Since then I have ministered on revival in meetings and conversations I have had with other churches around the world.
JESUS SAID, “SAY NOT YE, THERE ARE YET FOUR MONTHS, AND THEM COMETH HARVEST? BEHOLD, I SAY UNTO YOU, LIFT UP YOUR EYES, AND LOOK ON THE FIELDS; FOR THEY ARE WHITE ALREADY TO HARVEST.” JOHN 4:35
Mankind has a tendency to push revival back to sometime in the future.
REVIVAL, REVIVAL, REVIVAL. (NOW, NOW, NOW).
“AS GOD’S PARTNERS, WE BEG YOU NOT TO ACCEPT THIS MARVELOUS GIFT OF GOD’S KINDNESS AND THEN IGNORE IT. FOR GOD SAYS, AT JUST THE RIGHT TIME, I HEARD YOU. ON THE DAY OF SALVATION I HELPED YOU.” 2 Corinthians 6:1-2, NEW LIVING TRANSLATION. INDEED THE “RIGHT TIME” IS NOW. TODAY IS THE DAY OF SALVATION.”
We are spreading the Word of God around the world as the Holy Spirit leads us to new areas in an ever increasing amount.
For you ministers or leaders of groups you can contact us for ministering in your church at: G Mail:
If you have come to this ministry website today and have never asked Jesus Christ to come into your life and be born again, you are not here by accident, the Spirit of the Living God drew you here.
If you do not have the assurance of where you would spend eternity if you died right now please go to the top of this website and it will have a tab for “SALVATION.” In that tab will be what is required by God to be right with Him. When you pray that prayer and accept the Lord please send us a Gmail to our website at: email@example.com and let us know that you accepted the Lord as your Savior and Lord and were born again. We want to rejoice with you and pray for you. Thank you (Please look up these scriptures: John 3:3 and Romans 10:9-10 it talks about you being born again).
Surely you know people who are going through hell and high water with real battles in their life both Christians and those that are not born again Christians. The Word of God that is presented each week will help turn their situation around if they do the Word of God and instead of the anguish and tears will bring a smile and victory to their life, isn’t that worth you sharing this website with others?
This includes the ones that not able to go to church because of disabilities and sickness or for one reason or another can’t attend church. Can you imagine how this Word of God would bless and comfort them? Please share this website with these folks also.
If we can pray for you please contact us regarding your prayer request.
