Today I will be ministering on the fruit of the Spirit called temperance which is the 9th and last fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23
Temperance like all of the different fruits of the Spirit is an invaluable characteristic that we receive from Jesus Christ because we have his presence in our spirit. I Corinthians 6:19
Our part is to make a decision to allow these fruits of the Spirit to flow out of us to bless other people.
A person who has temperance has self-control, (the virtue of one who masters his desires and passions including his sensual appetites).
Having temperance in your life means that you do not let emotions or moments of self-gratification take over what you know is the right thing to do. You exercise control over you emotions, you do not let them run away with you.
An example of temperance or self-control would be to control anger so it does not get out of hand. Rage of course would be an extreme form of anger that is way over the line. Rage is a very dangerous emotion it is the thing that causes murders, rapes and a host of other passions that are of course a total lack of self-control.
Please share this website with others that you know.
Remember the Word of God will bless every person no matter who they are. God speaks to our hearts when we receive ministry from Him and He puts others people in our hearts and tells us to call or e mail that person because they need the Word of God also.
You never know what that friend or family member of yours is going through. The trauma and fear that they are experiencing. Reading and meditating on God’s Word delivers people that are in trauma, fear or confusion. There is tremendous Power in the Word of God. Hebrews 4:12
So please follow what the Spirit of the Living God is telling you and call up or e mail other people that you know so they too can receive the powerful Word of God in their lives.
That also includes the shut ins which includes people who are disabled or now are old and not able to come to a church building but still need ministering to just like you and me. So please give our website address to these people and see that they are blessed. Thank you.
The scriptures that are highlighted in this teaching will take you to BibleGateway.com and usually are in King James translation, however once you get to that site you can pick many different translations. This anger that the Apostle Paul is talking about to the Church of Ephesus in this scripture is anger that is under control, (TEMPERANCE).
There are times in our lives that having some anger that is under control is admissible. However an example of this type of anger would be in response to something that is morally or ethically wrong. It is not wrong to take a stand for these type of things but should never elevate to being out of control and should be expressed and let it go.
Ephesians 4:26 says: “be ye angry and sin not: LET NOT THE SUN GO DOWN UPON YOUR WRATH.”
This verse is stating that this anger that you might have over some things like taking a stand against things that are against God’s Word like moral or ethical issues for example should not continue to be demonstrated, IN FACT DON’T EVEN CARRY THEM PAST SUN DOWN.
Notice that the very next verse in Ephesians 4:27 says: “Neither give place to the devil.”
If you look at the setting of this verse in Ephesians 4:23-32 you see that all of these scriptures are talking about the new life in Christ Jesus that we receive at the new birth. It is talking about letting the new spirit that you received that is like the nature of the Lord dominate you instead of your flesh and your mind.
These verses further state that we are to renew our mind. Ephesians 4:23.
Romans 12:1-2 “I beseech you therefore brethren; by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
How does all of this happen?
As you not only read but meditate on the Word of God it starts renewing your mind so as you go about your daily life you start to see changes of what your desires are and how you conduct yourself. You start seeing that your reborn spirit gets more and more control over your flesh and your mind.
By reading and meditating on the Word of God each day it creates a transformation of your thinking and acting as a Christian man or woman. You put on the nature of the Lord step by step. Of course this process is never ending. We will be renewing our mind all of our life but the wonderful thing is that you and others will start seeing a big change from what you used to be, what you do and say.
Then as you continue to renew your mind with the Word of God by daily reading and meditating on the Word you find it easier and easier to let your spirit dominate your thinking and your emotions. You start to see a person who is more and more under self-control. A person who is more and more at peace with himself.
We are to renew our mind so we come into thinking and behavior as a self-controlled man or woman of God.
Allowing our passions to dominate us will always get us into a lot of trouble that we will later regret.
This fruit of the Spirit called temperance or self-control also goes into the area of sensual passions. It further addresses your fidelity to your husband or wife and your marriage. This temperance to your husband or wife is called faithfulness.
For those that are single temperance also called self-control will keep you from sexual relationships before you are married. It will help you to honor the sacredness of marriage.
The Lord put guidelines to our sexual passions for our own good. He knows that sensual passions are very strong but when we allow the fruit of the Spirit to dominate our spirit we can and will be victorious over these sensual passions that are not of the Lord whether we are married or unmarried.
I Corinthians 9:25 “And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.” KJV
NLT (NEW LIVING TRANSLATION) I Corinthians 9:25 “All athletics are disciplined (temperate) in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize.”
We have the ability through the Word of God to renew our minds and be able to fulfill the fruit of the Spirit called temperance or self-control. It is something through the power of the Word of God and allowing that Word and our spirit to dominate us so we can allow ourselves to grow and grow in our Christian life.
In my King James Bible I have this verse on temperance under the heading of “The Christian Race” “And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.” 1 Corinthians 9:25
You can see the character of the Apostle Paul in this writing to the Corinthian Church. Before he experienced the new life in Jesus Christ he was a terrorist to Christians, hunting them down and putting them in jail and even killing them. He was zealous for what he felt was right before he came to Christ on the road to Damascus, see Acts 9:1-9
After the Apostle Paul came to Christ he used this same zealousness to spread the Gospel of his Lord Jesus Christ and would not be denied no matter what came against him. See 2 Corinthians 11: 22-28
And yet the Apostle Paul after his conversion to Christ showed amazing temperance even in spite of the horrific things he went through that are listed in 2 Corinthians 11:22-28
So when the Apostle Paul talks in 1 Corinthians 9:25 about the Christian race and mastering the fruit of the Spirit called TEMPERANCE he lived the life that he was preaching, did he ever.
The Apostle Paul became a poster child for the fruit of the Spirit called temperance. How he could go through all he went through and not blow his top and lose his cool shows indeed that he became a master of his emotions through the Spirit of the Living God living in him.
But don’t get me wrong the same Spirit of the living God that lived in the Apostle Paul lives in you and me.
When we ALLOW the Spirit of God to dominate our life as Romans 8: 1-39 relates to us amazing results happen in our life and we are able to minister to others in a powerful way. Marvelous things will transpire in our life.
You see the Spirit of God is in every born again Christian the key is that we need to ALLOW Him to manifest Himself through our lives. Amen?
I challenge all of us to ALLOW the Spirit of the living God to come out of us and allow Him to manifest Himself into all of our lives this year of 2016.
Talk about a New Year’s resolution, wow that is huge. But if we do that we will look back at 2016 when it becomes 2017 and say what wonderful things have happened in all of our lives.
“What? Know you not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
You know every time I begin a teaching on the Word of God I ask for His direction and His presence to help me say and do just what He would have me do.
How many times as I have been in front of this computer the powerful presence of the Lord comes upon me. Such was the case just now as the Spirit of God talked to me about this teaching.
His presence is priceless, I can’t get enough of Him.
In the Apostle Paul’s writings I can see a common thread that he uses to compare his Christian life to receiving a prize at the end of it. This same theme can be seen in Philippians 3:14.
To complete this teaching on the fruit of the Spirit Galatians 5:24 encourages us as Christians to crucify our flesh (put it to death by allowing our renewed mind and spirit to dominate our life).
Galatians 5:25 “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” (Since when we received the new birth our spirit is the part of us that was born again we need to allow that new spirit and the Word of God to command our new life in Christ, not our flesh or our unrenewed mind, it did not get born again with our spirit).
That’s why allowing the fruit of the Spirit to flow out of us is so important while we also renew our mind with the Word of God. Romans 8:1-39
Galatians 5:26 The Apostle Paul states that we should not be conceited, or provoke one another or be jealous of one another.
The fruits of the Spirit are vitally important to your life as they build godly character. If implemented in our life they make us more like our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and that will always draw other people to a point of wanting what you have. Hallelujah!!!

We have an evangelistic/teaching ministry that we know will bring a revival of God and His Word to your church or group. We minister on many different areas including the Holy Spirit and the Baptism of the Holy Spirit including teaching on the gifts of the Holy Spirit, how to walk in the supernatural things of the Lord, dreams and visions, how to worship God in Spirit and in truth, the blessing of tithes and offerings and always the most important, how to actually lead people to the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior.
Has this teaching website helped you?
Please consider supporting this ministry financially on a regular basis as we continue with this website and going out to churches and groups as evangelists and teachers. Your giving makes that possible as you sow into lives around the world. “For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.” see I Corinthians 3:9
At present we have 10 different ministries that have contacted us from around the world that are viewing this website with you every week and using our teaching to teach their congregations. In addition to that we are able to teach them individually as God leads us to help them grow in the Word of God. They are wonderful men and women of God comprised of 8 pastors and 2 evangelists.
These 10 ministries are touching the lives of thousands as they minister in their churches and go out into their cities and neighboring cities and hold revivals.
Nita and I are truly honored and humbled that the Lord supernaturally sent these pastors and evangelists from around the world for us to help them and for them to bless us. They did not know us and we did not know them. The Holy Spirit literally had their hands get on the computer keys and led them to our ministry website.
We asked them how they found us and they said it was the Lord, it was the Holy Spirit of God. Hallelujah. All praise to the mighty God we serve.
So indeed this is fertile spiritual ground to sow your finances into.
